Shrines

Some things I like. Maybe one day I'll make separate shrines...

Fully translated! ✅🥳🎉

~*~ Series ~*~

SPARTACUS (2010-2013)

Never in my life have I seen a series SO well-written!!! Even with unforeseen events and having to change the story in the second season, the writers managed to create something incredible!

The last episode of the first season is spine-chilling. And the second season is wonderful.

BLACK SAILS (2014-2017)

The first season is somewhat problematic and a little out of place, perhaps because it starts in media res, but then the series picks up in a wonderful way.

The treatment given to the bisexual characters is very good. At no point does it become preachy.

LUCIFER (2016-2018, 2019-2021)

A very entertaining series that also offers a bit of free therapy. 😂

Michael will always be my favorite villain. That accent and that weird way of his... ❤️ I can't shake the feeling that it was possible to redeem him, but I understand that the producers didn't want to do that, and that's okay.

Again, the treatment of the bisexual characters is very good. There was also no preachy aspect to it, everyone acts naturally.

SEVERANCE (2022-)

Wow, what a crazy series! It's one of the most unique I've ever watched!

At first, it doesn't seem to be in a hurry to develop. I thought I'd get bored, but that didn't happen, I was engaged until the end. Around the second half of the first season, things really pick up speed, and you're left in a state of immense desperation to know what will happen next.

I'm eagerly awaiting the third season.

REACHER (2022-)

I'm sorry, but this man is very handsome. 🤭

Furthermore, his moral code is invaluable, his responses are excellent, and the action is actually very good.

I don't like this type of macho brawler genre, but for every rule there's an exception, and Reacher is that exception.

~*~ Movies ~*~

A MÚMIA (1999)

I watched this movie when I was a child, and it was responsible for me seriously considering becoming an archaeologist.

It was also responsible for making me fall in love with ancient cultures, especially Egyptian culture. This even affected my personal beliefs. When I was pagan, I even worshipped the Egyptian gods for a while. Unfortunately, I abandoned all that and became an atheist.

I miss watching movies about ancient civilizations that are this good.

O RETORNO DA MÚMIA (2001)

Just as good as the first one! Which is a miracle when it comes to Hollywood.

There's not much more to say here. If you've seen the first one or plan to, then watch the second one too because it's amazing. Forget about the two films that came after this one, they're awful. Believe me.

CONSTANTINE (2005)

Dude, I was crazy about Keanu Reeves during my adolescence.Thank the Gods I'm cured, it was awful to be completely obsessed with someone. D:. When this movie came out, I went even crazier, I don't know why since I didn't even know the comic book. LOL

I remember loving this movie at the time, and even today, I watch it occasionally and still enjoy it very much.

THE HANDMAIDEN (2016)

AAAAAAHHHHHH

SO MANY PLOT TWISTS!

❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

AND THE ENDING IS SO GOOD! 😭😭😭😭😭😭

MAD MAX FURY ROAD (2015)

Think of a badass action movie, this is it.

SPLIT (2016)

I didn't think much of James McAvoy until I saw this movie. 👏👏👏

Of all Shyamalan's films, this is my favorite. The whole superhero franchise he was trying to create doesn't interest me much, but this film alone is very good.

THE SUBSTANCE (2024)

That's what I like! This female gore, female body horror, visceral thing, the exposure of our weaknesses thrown in our faces!

May there be more films like this!

SPECIES (1995)

It may not seem like it, but it's a more timid form of female body horror.

The scene of the teenage girl on the train is the best of all. That's exactly how I felt throughout my entire adolescence. 👏👏👏

Here I'm pretending that the other 3 films in this supposed franchise don't exist. :D

MIDSOMMAR (2019)

I like these oddities that are, in fact, different. Midsommar brought this idea (if not unique, then rare) that what is clear, what is exposed, what is white, what is inclusive can be equally frightening.

JENNIFER'S BODY (2009)

Ah... Another female body horror. ❤️

It has a deeper message that sexual abuse can destroy a person's soul.

The scene of the two friends kissing is great. With zero nudity, the scene manages to convey a lot of eroticism. The only problem is that they (the characters) were high school students. e_e

In my opinion, both were bisexual, but the film doesn't delve much into that aspect of the story.

~*~ Games ~*~

THE SIMS (2000)

When I got my first computer, I downloaded a torrent of this complete game over my dial-up internet connection. It took 6 MONTHS to finish. 🙃

The first time I played it was at a friend's house who had a computer. I was completely blown away. It was a virtual dollhouse where the dolls had a mind of their own!

THE SIMS 2 (2004)

It's by far the game I've played the most in my life. I must have around 1000 hours of it. I had a ton of mods and would spend the night building houses to trade with a friend back then.

Fond memories of when my husband became pregnant during an alien abduction and gave birth to our son, ET Bilu.

THE SIMS 4 (2014)

I played the base game quite a bit, without the expansions, because I got it for free in a giveaway on the now-defunct Origin. But it doesn't even come close to how much I played the second one. The problem here is that the game is fragmented too much because EA wants to milk this cow dry.

I've never played the third one, I don't even know what it's like. I skipped straight from the second one to the fourth.

THE SIMS SOCIAL (2011-2013)

The only good thing about Facebook. My friend and I used to visit each other's houses all the time. xD

I loved visiting foreigners and seeing how they used the game's optical illusion to create a second floor. There were some very creative houses.

PHARAOH (1999)

"I have been kicked out of my home and through no fault of my own!"

Here's another game I played a lot. I don't know for how long because I bought the CD from the now-defunct Fullgames magazine and didn't keep track of my playtime.

Of all the city builders, this is by far my favorite. I recently bought Caesar and Zeus, but I haven't played them yet.

THE ELDER SCROLL V: SKYRIM (2011)

Dude... The first time I played this, I played for 20 HOURS straight! My skin turned purple with brown spots, I had tachycardia, shortness of breath, and dizziness. In other words, I almost had a heart attack from playing so much.

10/10 I recommend this near-death experience. 👍

MY TIME AT PORTIA (2019)

Despite everyone saying it's a 3D copy of Stardew Valley, I found the experience different enough that I could clearly distinguish between the two games in my head and enjoy them separately.

Portia has more to offer than Valley, the story is relatively different, and the gameplay is also different..

I fell in love with Arlo at first listen, because his voice is beautiful, but he's a useless husband. The first thing he does in the morning is go for a run with his colleagues from the security guard unit. He leaves me alone with the farm, children, and pets to take care of. During my work, he still has the nerve to invite me for fishing and hot air ballooning. If I refuse, I lose hearts in our relationship... What a dog's life, you know. But I loved the experience nonetheless. LOL

STARDEW VALLEY (2016)

I don't feel nostalgic because when I first played it, it was on my phone (I bought it on Google Play) during a very bad time in my life that I don't like to remember. But this game helped me get through that period without freaking out, and a few years later, I bought it again on Steam, played it again, and managed to create better feelings to associate with it.

Adding the 100 hours I have on Android to the 189 on Steam, I have a total of 289 hours of Stardew Valley.

HITMAN BLOOD MONEY (2006)

It was the first stealth game I played, and I really enjoyed the experience.

HITMAN ABSOLUTION (2012)

Another one that almost killed me. The first time, I played it for 14 HOURS straight. I stopped before I got too close to death.

I think almost all fans of the franchise hate this game, but I loved it even though it's linear. 47 acting like a daddy is adorable. LOL

Besides, the nuns' characters are really cool! I'd love to know more about their story. Or I'll just write fanfiction about it... 🤔

HITMAN (2016)

I only played this one because I won it in a bundle with an AMD processor I bought. If it weren't for that, I wouldn't have even played it, since it was released in installments... At least I got the whole game in the bundle. 😅

Aside from that, the game is very beautiful and strongly resembles Blood Money in terms of freedom in missions, it may even have more ways to complete them.

I loved the female NPCs flirting with 47! 😂

SAINTS ROW 2 (2008)

I don't like shooting games, but the Saints Row franchise is the exception. This was the first one I played.

Enfim. The NPCs are great! They have personalities, act in different ways, have different interests. In other words, they seem like characters in a story and not just NPCs.

SAINTS ROW: THE THIRD (2011)

This one's here because it's part of the franchise, but I don't remember anything about it, except for the purple dick weapon. 10/10

SAINTS ROW IV (2013)

My favorite in the franchise! Even though I was really angry about what happens right at the beginning.

The missions are cooler because the premise is so crazy. Yes, the premise manages to be even crazier than this franchise usually is.

VAMPIRE: THE MASQUERADE - BLOODLINES (2004)

I've never played tabletop RPGs and I never will because I find the whole acting thing too embarrassing, but I picked up the books to read and I loved the game.

It's buggy, even with the unofficial patch. There are missions that get stuck and can only be completed using cheats. Even so, I still enjoyed the game a lot!

The Malkavian's dialogues are... Indescribable.

I don't have much more to say here. Having written fanfics about this is already a huge offering on this shrine.

A BUILDING FULL OF CATS (2022)

The first game I played from these developers, the DevCats. They are Brazilian and rescued some stray cats, in addition to making donations to groups that rescue abandoned animals.

It's a hidden cat game (remember "Where's Wally?"? Well, it's very similar) with gorgeous art that was even plagiarized by a shoddy Russian and now has become a genre and is copied by everyone. e_e

It grew so much that it's now a franchise! There's even a "A Planet Full of Cats" game planned for sometime! This first game takes place in a building and has two endings. One of them is terribly sad, but we play it anyway to get the worst Steam achievement (that was removed from the game after a petition!).

A CASTLE FULL OF CATS (2022)

This one is quite difficult because it has some very small cats and they are very well disguised in the environment, but it's still excellent. The Count Dracula-esque theme is really cool. There's a fight with Fofinho at the end that I got beaten up by, you know. HAOUEHAUHEUO

AN ARCADE FULL OF CATS (2023)

We traveled to various points in history to find the cats.

A PARK FULL OF CATS (2024)

It has a kind of horror element that's really cool. It's a long game with a lot of content.

A TOWER FULL OF CATS (2024)

We climb a time tower filled with various moments from history and encounter the Egyptian goddess Bastet! ❤️

In the end, we have to build a spaceship and go to a planet full of cats. Not long after this game they announced "A Planet Full of Cats". I'm looking forward to it.

A SHELTER FULL OF CATS (2024)

This one is quite sad, but it raises awareness about feline AIDS. It has an average length considering the rest of the franchise, but it's still good.

DON'T STARVE (2013)

Look, I'm not a masochist, I don't like to suffer, but I'll make an exception for Don't Starve. 😂

DON'T STARVE TOGETHER (2016)

And here we can suffer together with a buddy. I played this for a long time alone and twice with two different people. With a friend, I stayed at the base cooking and building everything while he went out to explore the caves. It was a fun dynamic. xD

But with the other person, I think he didn't know how to play or was expecting me to explore with him, I don't know. I just know we didn't click and the game was kind of boring. xD Maybe there was a lack of communication. 😅

DIABLO II: LORD OF DESTRUCTION (2001)

It's the last one here because I had the audacity to forget about this game. Anyway, I played it a lot around the same time as The Sims 2 and Pharaoh. And I played with several friends at different times. There was one of them who played as a barbarian and who would get really angry with me because I (assassin) would always run away when monsters gathered around us and then he would die. 😂

But he never refused when I invited him to play, even though he knew I always did it. LOL

And there was another one who played as a badass werewolf druid who never died. He never minded that I ran away when things got tough and always told me to invite him at any time.

Good times.

I tried a few other similar games afterwards, like Torchlight 1 and 2, Van Helsing, Grim Dawn, Diablo 3, and a few others, but none of them captivated me like this one.

~*~ Animes ~*~

O CASTELO ANIMADO (2004)

It was the first anime I watched all the way through (I'd drop the others early on because I found them boring) and I loved it. I thought it was incredible how innocent the characters are. There's none of that malice we see in Western media. I don't know if it's a characteristic of Studio Ghibli films and if other anime are malicious and grotesque like Western media, or if it's a part of their culture. Considering I've seen people commenting on the problematic aspects of some anime, I believe that this innocence and cuteness are specific to Studio Ghibli.

In any case, it was wonderful to see a story that doesn't have all the evil we see in Western stories. It's something pure, where certain characters can be redeemed with gestures of affection and care.

Foi um filme que me despertou um calorzinho bom no coração, e me despertou para outras possibilidades. Nem tudo precisa ser ódio e desgraça.

A VIAGEM DE CHIHIRO (2001)

This was the second anime I watched all the way through. And I loved seeing the bizarre, nonsensical things that only the Japanese can pull off. 😂

THE ANCIENT MAGUS' BRIDE (2017-2023)

This was the first episodic anime I watched. Dude, what a problematic premise. A 15-year-old girl, depressed and attempting suicide, receives an offer to be bought as a slave at a black market auction (?), and ends up being acquired by a mage over 1000 years old who decides to marry her. Seriously, look at the situation of this premise. HALP! However, the execution is waaaaay better than I expected from such a premise. Elias (Magus) is quite innocent and doesn't understand how human interactions work. So, for him, marriage doesn't have the same meaning as it does for us. Just like slavery doesn't have the same meaning for him either.

I enjoyed the series so much, despite the premise, that I was very excited, like a typical fangirl, when I found a necklace very similar to the one that Elias gives to Chise, in a Chinese store! I plan to buy one someday.

SOMALI AND THE FOREST SPIRIT (2020)

So sad and so beautiful. We need more stories like this with male characters being fathers. We have a serious problem in our society where men don't know how to care for children and don't know how to be fathers. And they don't even try to learn, they prefer to run away from responsibility by abandoning their families.

YOUR NAME (2016)

SUCH AN AGONIZING MOVIE. 😭😭😭😭

But it's very good. 💖💖

~*~ Manga ~*~

UZUMAKI

This is the best story ever written in human history. The story's structure unfolds according to the theme.

We have spirals that appear one day in a city and do strange things that only the Japanese can imagine. That's the premise. Structurally, the story unfolds like a spiral, getting increasingly bizarre until we reach the center of this structural spiral and a city that is the epicenter of the spiral phenomenon. I can't even properly explain how brilliant this is, the structure follows the narrative.

This was the first manga I ever read, and it ruined all the others I tried to read afterwards because none of them came close to this one. Sad.

To Hell with Shakespeare. Junji Ito is the best writer humanity has ever seen.

~*~ Art ~*~

REMEDIOS VARO (THE PHENOMENON, 1962)

Of all the surrealist artists, Remedios is my absolute favorite. All of her paintings inspire me immensely.

The Phenomenon inspired me so much that it ended up being part of my first published book, In the Underworld of Pluto.

You can see all of her work here (archived).

LEONORA CARRINGTON (THE UNICORNS AND THE GHOST IN THE WALL, 1957)

I also love Carrington's paintings, she's also a surrealist. Actually, in terms of art, I love Surrealism. The rest doesn't interest me. 😂

You can check out all of her paintings here.

NICOLETTA CECCOLI (ALL IN MY HEAD, 2022)

Currently, of the surrealists, I adore Nicoletta Ceccoli. I have a card oracle of hers and I want her Tarot deck. I've already bought it twice on Amazon, but there were problems with both orders. I'll see if I can buy it from a Brazilian store that imports.

Her art has some rather controversial elements that put some people off, especially in her oracles, but I love it nonetheless. We have very few surrealists these days, which is a shame.

You can check out all of her work here.

~*~ Books ~*~

I read half fiction and half non-fiction. Few fiction books have captivated me, most I read and completely forget. I used to track everything on Skoob, but I deleted my account. I had a spreadsheet somewhere where I had written down all the books I'd ever read, but I don't know where that spreadsheet is. e_e

~*~ Music ~*~

I don't have a favorite artist in this category, nor any favorite album...

As for the songs themselves, I don't have one that's a lifelong favorite. Usually, I really like a song at a certain point in my life, listen to it repeatedly for weeks, and then never listen to it again. 🤷🏻‍♀️

As for genres... I kind of listen to ~almost~ anything. I hate the most popular genres. Either because uncivilized citizens force me to listen at full volume or because the songs are too similar to each other, meaning nothing catches my attention, it's just background noise to annoy me.
