Dragons are a species of spiritual beings that live in another spiritual universe. From time to time, some of them become curious about human existence and approach us to observe. With mutual interest and respect, it is possible to befriend them.
They are very ancient, wise, and powerful beings. They possess their own moral code and individuality; that is, each draconian individual will have their own likes, dislikes, interests, and disagreements.
D.J. Conway called them co-magicians, stating that it is possible to work with them within any magical system, the exceptions being religions that demonize dragons, for obvious reasons. Although Conway's books focus on practicing magic with the help of dragons, it is possible to simply befriend them without necessarily performing magic.
The most common races are related to the elements, such as Water, Air, Fire and Earth dragons. But there are also Order/Light and Chaos/Darkness dragons.
In addition, there are sub-races such as dragons of rivers, lakes, swamps, oceans, mountains, deserts, forests, volcanoes, storms, thunder, winds and etc.
There are also some special races such as stellar, galactic and planetary dragons. Within the latter, there are dragons for each of the celestial bodies in our solar system, such as solar, lunar, mercurial, venusian, martian, jupiterian, saturnian, uranian, neptunian, plutonian, erisian and others dragons.
Races from other spheres that are not elemental or cosmological also exist, such as dragons of love, peace, war and etc.
In short, there are dragons specialized in the most diverse spheres of interest.

The most common one has one head, four legs, a pair of wings, and a tail, but there can also be variations with different names when it has a pair of wings instead of the two front legs (wyvern), when it has four legs and no wings (Chinese dragon), and when it has neither legs nor wings, like giant snakes.

They like to know everything and are quite curious. They tend to accumulate wealth and knowledge. They also like oracles and magic.
They dislike betrayal and those who dislike them.
In general, dragons are quite unique in their way of being, so we can't say that they all act the same way. Some are more extroverted and make friends with humans more easily, others are distrustful and dislike our species.
Depending on the dragon that approaches the person, it can be dangerous to ask for their help with a problem because they can destroy the evil at its root and thus turn the person's life upside down, forcing them to start from scratch. This is often attributed to fire, volcano, storm, and chaos dragons, the latter being the most difficult type to work with.

There is a common misconception that Tiamat and Apsu are the gods of dragons, but dragons do not have gods, they are free beings. Tiamat and Apsu are gods from Sumerian and Akkadian mythology who are friends with the dragons.
Like the aforementioned, Ares (the Greek god of war) is a friend of dragons, as in one of his myths he is depicted as the father of a water dragon that protects a spring near the city of Thebes.
Obviously, all religions that portray dragons as demons or malevolent beings are enemies of the dragons, as are the deities worshipped in those religions.

You can simply perform some kind of prayer, mantra, or incantation saying "Hi" to them; you can make an offering of natural fruits; or have images of dragons at home, they love it!

Dragons are spiritual beings, but they are not deities, meaning dragons are not worshipped. They can be our friends or partners in magic, but they do not seek our worship. If you want to set up a separate altar for dragons to connect with their essence more easily, that's fine, but don't worship them on that altar.
Avoid having images that show dragons dying or suffering, such as images of Saint George and Saint Michael, for example. It's okay to watch Game of Thrones and kill Paarthurnax to get Steam achievements, just don't have images of beliefs that abhor dragons.
