There are things we keep or hide for various reasons. Contrary to what we've been told all our lives, having secrets isn't bad. Being an open book is. It's no coincidence that those who are most exposed suffer greatly from the lack of their privacy. However, hiding a problem hoping it will disappear only makes the situation worse. Eventually, the problem grows and shows its claws, becoming impossible to hide.
If you're asking what to do in a situation, confront what you've been hiding from yourself. Seek therapy if necessary.
